Starting preschool is a big step—not just for your child, but for you too, you. Many parents wonder: “Is my child ready?” Don’t worry, these are signs that our teacher discover to help you decide if your children is ready!
1. Can They Be Away From You for a While?
It’s normal for kids to feel a bit nervous at first. But if your child can stay with relatives, babysitters, or even at playground without crying or being scared, that’s a good sign they have the independence.
2. Basic Self-Help Skills
Preschool doesn’t expect kids to be fully independent. But being able to do small things like:
Putting on shoes
Eating with a spoon
Washing hands
3. They’re Curious and Like to Explore
Preschool is all about learning through play. If your child asks questions, enjoys trying new things, or plays with toys imaginatively, they’re ready for a new adventure.
4. Getting Along With Other Kids
Can your child take turns, share toys (most of the time 😅), or play beside other children? Social skills are important in preschool. Even if they’re shy, what matters is their interest in being around others.
5. Can Follow Simple Instructions
Things like “Put your bag here” or “Let’s sit in a circle” are part of daily preschool life. If your child can listen and follow basic instructions, they’ll adjust much easier.
6. Showing a Routine at Home
Preschool follows a daily rhythm—play time, snack, story time, nap, and so on. If your child is used to simple routines at home, they’ll feel more settled at school.
At Cherie Hearts, we support both the child and the parent in the transition. Feel free to visit us, talk to our teachers, and see if your child is ready!
